Sonnet Mondal is the director of the Chair Poetry Evenings – Kolkata’s International Poetry Festival.

He has published ten books of poetry, including Clamour for a Handful of Rice (Copper Coin), An Afternoon in My Mind (Copper Coin), and Lautati Dopaharein (Rajkamal Prakashan).

Invited to read his poem at literary festivals in more than thirty countries, he has work translated in over twenty languages. He was a part of the Silk Routes Project (International Writers Program) of the University of Iowa, USA, and was a guest Writer in Residence at the Almaty Writing Residency.

His honours include one from the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi (Academy of Literature) and the Gayatri Gamarsh Memorial Award.

Recent work has appeared in The Harper’s Bazaar, Virginia Quarterly, Stand magazine, Versopolis, and The Markaz Review.

The managing editor of Verseville, and editor of the Indian section of Lyrikline, he has served as a guest editor for Words Without Borders.
