It took one of India’s most skilled directors to give the nation an insight into the fragility of youth in times of turmoil. The film is set in a volatile Punjab in the aftermath of ‘Operation Blue Star’ and narrates the story of Kripaal (Chandrachur Singh), who joins an extremist group, driven by the angst of personal loss and an ideological conflict that had gripped the state in the late 80s. The film’s grim narrative in a cold Punjab and its heart-breaking music, run parallel with the reality of the freezing Indian state, burning with the fire of lost innocence.
