Dr. Mohini Giri being awarded Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, in 2007, by the then-Presiden of India, Shri A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

Dr. Mohini Giri is one of India’s most outstanding community service workers. As Chairperson of the Guild of Service, a New Delhi-based social service organization established in 1979, she leads advocacy for women’s and children rights for education, employment, and financial security. Also well-known as an activist, she founded the War Widows Association in 1972, and was Chairperson of India’s National Commission for Women from 1995 to 1998.
