Dil-Chahta-Hai

Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

Dil Chahta Hai changed the way we perceived Bollywood movies and in many ways how we made them. Before Farhan Akhtar introduced us to the emotional undertone of characters, colloquial dialogues, and a youth centric theme that doesn’t flare passion, all Bollywood films had used an outdated sketch of youth, without realistic upgrades. Dil Chahta Hai gave the contemporary Indian youth an identity, and looked at friendship and desires with a much more mature outlook. Seventeen years later, it is still the coolest Bollywood film and gives us relatable, at times envious, friendship goals.
