Finding a millennial who hasn’t seen this film is as difficult as finding a better comedy film in Bollywood. Most jokes lose their potency or the punch upon repetition, but this film doesn’t seem to have that problem because there are no punches. Interaction of the characters with situations is so constant and unfailingly comical that the audience doesn’t have to wait for the punch line at all. A film as bold as this could have ended as a complete disaster, but maybe it was the energetic performance of the primary characters, and the impulsive writing and direction that turned Andaz Apna Apna into an icon that is impossible to replicate.
