Dangal

Dangal (2016)

The latest phenomenon to hit Bollywood is the 1000 crore club, which only has one entry thus far – Dangal. It is not just the highest grossing Indian film ever, but is one of the finest biographies made in Bollywood. Dangal uses almost all tricks in the Bollywood cheat-book to create a complete family entertainer, while still staying honest to the incredible true story it is based on. The audience first wonders at the audacity of thought behind the film that two girls can compete with boys in wrestling; then journeys with the characters, as they power through to their goal with hard work and determination. The reason for Dangal’s success was its justified depiction of a story that needed only a few cinematic touch-ups to make it even more awe-inspiring than it already was.
